How it all started?
This is a real story that happened few years ago.
This is Caner Cem Marti on the picture, a 20-year-old young man, who loves sports and travelling. On 5 July 2010, he dived into the sea during his travels in Bartin and seriously injured his spine so that, even after complex surgery, he had to remain in bed.
This was and is a tragedy for Caner. Now he cannot move his arms or legs, neither he can travel like he used to. The accident has created a considerable amount of difficulties to Caner’s life. For instance, he could not use any of his devices. And we all know how digital and online world became a part of everyday life, so that we cannot even leave our homes without taking one or more pieces of technology with us.
For majority of people it takes nothing to use smartphones, tablets or PCs , but for Caner someone’s assistance is required. The most common things that we do everyday with technology, such as: dialing, emailing, browsing, or chatting online, are all big challenges for Caner and millions of people like him. Modern technology helps us every day, yet many people are not able to use it as easy as some can—statistics shows that there are over 30 millions of people with different kind of disabilities and most of them are not able to use technology and stay up to date with this fast pace of the world.
“I am always asking myself the same question: can I make Caner’s life easier?” says Caner’s friend, “and that is why I created GlassOuse, which helps Caner and other people like him, to use a smart phone by themselves, just like we do everyday.”
GlassOuse helped not only Caner, but many others as well. For example, famous DJ Luke Santos had an accident and appeared to be limited in his hands movements. Years of struggling made him experience slow productivity in music creating and develpment in industry overall. Then he tried GlassOuse and now can produce music with increased working speed and convinience:
Another example is a painter whos name is Tom Yendell. Tom does not have hands but he remains a great artist and person. Now he can draw using devices and easily access his social media:
Everyday we are happy to see that people use GlassOuse, find it comfortable and easy to use. It is satisfying to see them smiling and giving warm wards about our device. We hope that more people will know about Assistive Technology and its importance in daily life of people with special abilities.
