The PARAPLEGIC FOUNDATION was started in 1968 by a group of social workers and doctors, in the barracks of LTMG Municipal Hospital located at Sion, Mumbai, India, to rehabilitate, and provide total health care facilities for paraplegics and the severely orthopedically disabled.
The aim & mission of the foundation is to work for the paraplegics, to provide facilities in total health care, to encourage & motivate them to be self-confident, self-reliant and self-sufficient.

The foundation has expanded the scope of its activities by also working towards the total rehabilitation of differently abled children and youth at its Sanjeevan Deep Centre established in the year 1996.
The Foundation has two centres:
Centre 1. Sanjeevan Deep Total Education & Health, Personnel training & Research Centre, Airoli, Navi Mumbai .
Centre 2. Kantaben Shah Comprehensive Care Centre, Sion, Mumbai.
