University of Louisville researchers are finding ways to help those who suffer catastrophic spinal cord injuries battle other health problems related to their injury.

One of the secondary health effects of severe spinal cord injury can be a dramatic drop in blood pressure, for example. The Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center at UofL has received a grant to study whether epidural stimulation might stabilize the blood pressure and it appears to work in some patients, including Stefanie Putnam.
