Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center has over 50 years of experience providing quality care for persons with physical disabilities. In the 1950’s, Rancho Los Amigos made its transition to rehabilitative care with the waning of the polio epidemic, refocusing the team treatment approach developed to address polio on the rehabilitation of persons with disabling injury and illness.

Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is internationally renowned in the field of medical rehabilitation, consistently ranked in the top Rehabilitation Hospitals in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. It is one of the largest comprehensive rehabilitation centers in the United States. Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is licensed for 395 beds, providing service through over 20 Centers of Excellence incluing: Spinal Cord Injury

Inpatient admissions average 2,300 annually. Outpatient visits number 53,000 among multiple rehab and medical specialty clinics. The medical staff is composed of physicians and dentists representing the major medical, surgical and dental specialties required for the care of the catastrophically disabled.

Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center has been a pioneer in the interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Patients are treated by highly specialized teams dedicated to specific Disability categories such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, etc. This allows caregivers to develop an expertise unmatched in the Region. This level of expertise is supported by millions of dollars in grant and research monies administered by the Los Amigos Research and Education Institute, Inc. (LAREI).

As a branch campus of the University of Southern California, Rancho Los Amigos is affiliated with its Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Allied Health professions. It also affiliates with colleges and universities across the United States for training in the rehabilitation professions.

Rancho is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
