unite2fightThis is a very exciting time for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Act! After years of advocating for this bill, we have just received word it will be included in the bill titled Advancing America’s Priorities Act, Senate Bill # 3297. This is a bill that is made up of 40 pieces of legislation, including the CDRPA. All of the bills in this package are non-controversial and have strong bipartisan support, all have passed with overwhelming majority in the U.S. House (the CDRPA won by unanimous vote in the House), they have all passed in their committees in the Senate, and all have merely been awaiting a full vote by the Senate. It is crucial that we send a strong message to our Senators asking them to pass this package, S.3297, NOW!

Passage and funding of the CDRPA would be a MAJOR step in moving promising therapies from the laboratory to human clinical trials and application. At Working 2 Walk 2008 we heard repeatedly that advancement of research is being delayed not just by lack of funding, but also by lack of coordination and infrastructure. The CDRPA addresses these problems.

It’s very important we contact every Senator NOW with the following message:

– Please support Advancing America’s Priorities Act, S.3297, which includes the Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Act, S.B. #1183

– Please support the Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Act as is.

Thanks to all your efforts, this community once again has the opportunity to move this bill forward and move one step closer to advancing promising research strategies. Call on your family and friends to join you in this effort. Let’s pool our resources and make this happen!
